Volunteer With Purpose at Legacy Hospice, LLC

Serving Carmel and Central Indiana with Compassion

At Legacy Hospice, we believe that every life has value, and every moment matters. Our volunteers are a vital part of the care we provide, offering heart, time, and presence to support patients and families during some of life’s most sacred moments.

Why Volunteer with Legacy?

Hospice volunteering isn’t about “fixing” — it’s about being present, offering love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness at the end of life. Whether you’re sitting bedside, making calls, helping in the office, or offering a listening ear to a grieving family, your service helps us uphold our mission to care with heartfelt connection, communication, and compassion.

Ways to Serve

Volunteers can choose roles that match their comfort, skills, and availability:

  • Patient Companionship – Offer presence, conversation, reading, or music
  • Vigil Companionship – Offer presence while patient is preparing to cross the threshold.
  • Family Support – Provide respite for caregivers or lend a supportive ear
  • Bereavement Support – Assist in calls, mailings, or grief follow-up
  • Administrative Help – Support our staff with office tasks and organization
  • Special Projects – Help with events, veteran recognition, or seasonal outreach

No Experience? No Problem.

We provide comprehensive training, ongoing support, and flexible scheduling. Whether you’re a retiree, student, veteran, or someone looking to give back, we’ll help you find a meaningful fit.
